Derwent and Dove
SCOUTS INCIDENT HIKE

The hike is approximately 12 km long mainly in open country using the trails and footpaths of Derbyshire.
Teams of four Scouts are given a route card which tells them and everybody else involved, the exact hiking route.

Each Scout team is checked at the start to ensure they have the correct hiking equipment and the Scouts must have knowledge of reading a map, using a compass to set bearings, six figure grid references and knowledge of first aid.
During the hike the scouts will come across incidents which the Scouts have to deal with, testing their knowledge, communication skills and team work.
Along the route there are marshalled checkpoints and
refreshment points and also an adult sweep team is the last team to walk the route for safety cover.
